Found this collection of vehicles and machinery in and around some old stables and workshops near where I live. Really off the beaten track. The owner is a bit reclusive, getting on a bit, and hasn't really got the resources to do the restoration.

Dozens of other vehicles but mostly under tarpaulin

Some sort of grain loader I imagine (with phone mast in background!)

Wagon that Fred Dibnah would have been proud of

Old lathe (or something like that)

Pulley wheel on old workshop. I'd be interested to know if anyone has any ideas about the purpose of the building. It's quite large (about 40m by 15m), really solidly built, with two stories. My best guess is a granary. There is a windmill about 1/4 of a mile away.

The equipment in this yard, apart from the obvious farm related stuff, is all to do with road making. The conveyor on the trailer looks like part of an old type scarifier - the end that loads the grindings into the awaiting tippers. The roller is a Barford Perkins diesel roller, whilst the 'old cart' with cast iron wheels was originally part of the underframe that the wooden living van originally sat on. The living van body in now mounted on an ex MOD 2.5 ton trailer chassis. Finally the 'lathe' is in fact a very large radial drilling machine of a type used by heavy engineering works.

This collection of equipment begs the question - is it just a collectors gatherings or does the machinery and the site belong to an old family firm of road builders? Perhaps some research into the site would be useful, a look at some old OS Maps for starters will reveal what the brick building was originally built for.

Good stuff matey, very intrigued by by the Aveling and Barford I wonder whether the Road roller Association knows about this one,did you get a registration number for it,Also to the right of it appears to be another set of front rolls from another, roller steam or diesel?

yes bro thats a nice find i real like the old wagon shot very rustic!

Thanks for pointing out the radial arm drill Faing I was about to come up with that as well, looks a bit of an old one at that. some interesting kit around the place I must say. :)

Thanks everyone for the information. Particularly Dirus Strictus. I hadn't connected the items together as a collection of haulage vehicles.

I may pay another visit and get some more details ;)
