The Bärenquell Brauerei never quite managed to adapt to life after the wall came down. Built in 1888, the brewery made some popular beer and prospered for many years – that is, until it was comandeered by the DDR as property of the state and renamed VEB Bärenquell, VEB meaning Volkseigener Betrieb, or translated into English ‘owned by the people’ . Although it managed to keep up production until after the wall fell, the brewery was finally shut down in 1994 having produced over 600,000 hectolitres that year.

It is hard to understand why a still well selling beer like Barenquell struggled and many opinions have been muted the most popular seems to be the cost of beinging its antiquated machinery up to spec to allow it to effectively compete with its Western competition.

Incredible! You're seeing so much! And you have how long left?!
The whole graffiti scene seems such a higher standard out there!
Fantastic set of pics, you should be well proud of mate! Pic 10 is the new 'Leap of Faith'!
Cant wait to see where you end up next!

The Wireless here is so slow I haven't sorted reports of the other sites yet. That and my daughter has asked to do the history on Beelitz so apart from the Badehaus report nothing will go up until I get home and get her work :)

Nice stuff matey!!! Very Nice.

I hope you're showing Hans and Fritz how to do some good old English "Stunt Bin Jumping"

I really am blown away by that artwork, that itself should be protected!
