Birmingham Demonstration Coal Mine

Built in 1905 to train mining engineers in underground workings.

It is long disused except by the local fire brigade for exercises.

The ventilating fan for the mine is now part of the mine display at the Black Country Living Museum.

That's really interesting, one I've never heard of. We had a look at something vaguely similar a few years back in Germany, a mine gallery in the Ruhr owned by RAG and used for training.
