A recent very short visit to this old drop forging works crammed pack full of old engineering goodies! The company still exists but has moved to new premises not far away.

It's surprising so much stuff has been left behind, the maintenance shop looks like it could be fired back up in no time.

A cracking little place with loads to see. It reminded me of being at work back in the 80's & 90's, I served my time in a place just like this!

I was short of time so didn't spend too long inside but managed to get a few shots of the place.

Very nice set here - the fact that you 'served your time' in a similar place is very apparent from the image content. As you state 'full of working equipment', but also very old - which is why the storage sheds of second hand machine tool dealers are crammed to the rafters with stuff like this. Only sensible thing to do is let the demolition company foot the cost of removing the now scrap and worthless machines. Nice set of lathe collets on top of the blue racking in photo 1, those and the anvil would have been welcome in my workshop a few years back!

Really enjoyed that.some beautiful images of industry left behind.thanks for sharing.

What it reminded you of work in the 80's & 90's my god man that stuff is even older than the stuff I did my apprentiship on 45 years ago. Some great photos and brings a lot of memories back for me too

Nice photos, the one with the spiral of wire is insane.

Fantastic report, I can almost smell the place!
I love al the old hand-drawings, and the drafting boards, it takes me back....
Really great stuff, thanks for sharing :)

Love these, nice pics SJ. I love the Starting Lineup figure, and the metal coil! It's so bright, it looks freshly-shaved!

Also, not sure why, but the closeups of the glasses really speak to me, especially the one with the little safety shield on the left bow. Reminds me of Dad, he worked at factories like this when I was growing up, and I saw him sporting those once in a while.
