Derby. I travel the UK with my job so plenty of ex
Fancy a pint?

This pub is well secure and only determined attempts at access would get you in.

The car wash people next door have tapped into the water supply and some entrepreneurs are using the car park to sell flowers from.

The place has been tagged and there is some pathetic graffiti that looks like it was hardly worth the ink, video tape strewn over the defunkd beer garden, boarded up windows and steel shutters. Someone has busted in at one entry point and used it to doss and piss in because it stinks in there.(see video)

And I took a go down the metal slide for a bit of fun on my visit!

Video is only of the outside of the place as I say, only a break in would get you in and the pub is in a very public place so breaking and entering wasn't really an option for an upstanding member of the comminuty like myself.

Hope you like the video. I like the way the daffodils were trying to bloom in the old window box. Oh, and I put two tongue in cheek music tracks on for you.

Ahh my old local - how I don't miss such an awful place!

It was accessible though sadly the kids have trashed the interior since the Pirate and I visited last summer.

Good video and very apt tunes:lol:.Memories of yesteryear when I used to live in that area,Had many a beer and even good nights in there.Wasnt too good in more recent times however as Thompski will know.
That cheeky flower seller is none too popular apparently according to local paper this week:lol:

Hi keep out. I have been following various posts by you and the subsequent replies and i know you have been subjected to quite a bit of 'constructive critisism'

Firstly, i think the video and stills combination in some of your films are great. Your video of Lisk Control Systems was really cool and its a good idea you've had and entertaining to watch..... but... petrol stations and pubs? the problem here is everyone has a boarded up pub just down the road from them, i have several infact and the same applies to petrol stations. Eventually they all look the same and its a little bit boring and not at all exciting and i think this is why you have been critisised in the past. I would like to see you become more adventurous, start exploring the factories and hospitals etc there are plenty around Derby and create some really interesting video footage instead of this rather dull waste of time (that was a bit harsh i know)

I'm not trying to be the god of urbexing or anything, i'm new to the game myself, i just would like to see you put your idea to a better use thats all. perhaps others may agree with me, perhaps not, but thats my opinion anyway.

My stuff has got some accolades and been blasted at the same time. Fair play, not to everyones liking I agree.

The thing that narks me is that I have an interest in this urbex stuff and I film what I see, sometimes I edit it to try and give it a different spin, sometimes, it's raw footage.

My stuff, my take on urbex might not be to everybodys liking but I'm sharing, going out of my way (even though it takes me no time at all really with the techno I have to make the vids), I'm showing people what is about in my local area.

And would you believe the number of PM's I had in the first week on here saying stuff like "ignore the negativity on your threads mate...... blah blah blah" Try twenty messages in my first week on here! ((((thanks all))))

I'm just sharing, discussing. I'm sorry if people don't understand the way I think about things.

Two, three or a hundred people may go to the same place and get different feelings for the same place. I have my take on things, just sharing them here, a FORUM, A PLACE FOR DISCUSSION, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.

Thanks for your comment, it really is appreciated and as I said before I could easily make films of your 'money shot' locations that you'll never have seen before. Time will tell wether I stay on this forum willingly or get banned.........

I can see both sides here and wholly respect everyones opinions and views.
However it does not matter if it is a garage,a pub,a pill box, etc, etc,if it is derelict then it is fair game as far as I can see, hence the forum name "Derelict Places".

It may or may not have been done before, but everyone has a different angle when they visit a place which is of interest to someone or a group of locals.I have seen two of KO`s posts this week and both were relevant to me,one is the pub above, hence my previous reply on it and the other is a derelict garage near the A38.

I have visited both places and it is relevant and interesting how a place can deteriorate in such a short time.
Most of us I am sure have visited the more "famous" and documented places such as asylums etc as well as the more mundane and ordinary. Each one is unique and each visit an adventure and it is refreshing to see something a bit more down to earth and basic.

"Keep Out"is out there, amongst it and sharing it with us,Give the guy a break:):)

Giving the guy a break is fine as far as it goes. What I think has irritated is the attitude, rather than the content, in a few cases.

I'm still waiting for him to "blow my mind" as promised. Not sure the posts so far are living up to the hype. :D

Quite so. Poor or mediocre sites hyped up to be far more than they are.

Go where you want, shoot film, take photos, whatever, but don't try and make such a big deal about it.

By the sounds of it you missed my point, KO. I don't think you deserve to be banned or anything, its not a bad thing your doing. all i'm saying is you have a great idea with the video thing and i would really like to see what you would come up with if you where more selective with your locations. these guys above are waiting for a video that will 'blow their mind'...why not give it to them? you could do it with a good video, a great backing song and an awesome location.

I'm not just trying to spread negativity, thats not what i'm about, i'm just trying to give you some constructive critizism. I appriciate it is only my opinion, but i am free to share it am i not? :)

I'm sticking with the each to their own viewpoint, personally my interests don't lean towards these particular sites (though admittedly I have documented this pub and the petrol station in the past). I guess a dramatic location would make this proposed 'mind blowing' video a much easier task then say the exterior of a boarded up pub in Chellaston... then again I don't really do much filming.

There is quite a selection of reports on here from Derby and Derbyshire - have a search :)

excellent news. i genuinely look forward to it!

any chance you might tell me the band or song? Breaking Benjamin was an excellent choice for lisk controls, you've actually got me listening to their other songs on youtube now! I think 'Disturbed' and 'evenesence' make good backing tracks for derelict places IMO.

put it this way, I have 7000 mp3 tracks on my of so there's gonna be a huge choice. All I'm saying is it is gonna be banging!

Glad my video got you listening to things. Might do the same myself now.

I don't know why people do not like pubs anyway, they are really interesting (having explored a few myself) keep up the videos, they are great. I look forward to the amazing one too.

Quality not quantity is the way forward; people will ignore your posts and then they'll they miss your better stuff. :)

You have a good idea with the whole video / stills thing not many people have done it before; I remember bartje did a great video once of an old house (he's hardly ever on here) take a look for it.

When I first came on here I was posting everything but now I only post the better stuff (at least I think I do). If a site isn't that special I'll look round it but not bother with the photos.

I know this place too, I worked down the road from there..

Rough as a bears backside this place was.

Totally agree with you revolution.

We went a five mile walk yesterday (with the cam of course).Willington towers were coming in and out of view till the sun set behind them creating an awesome and every changing scenery. Set to some enchanting music last night I think the video really give a different aspect to urbex. I've watched it back several times and have to admit it's something special.

I'll save it for the montage though as it will add a nice ending to the rocking vid.

Each to their own, I find asylums and hospitals can be 'done to death' in time, so someone elses' angle on simple sites is refreshing.
Just because someone doesn't balance on a rotting floorboard 20foot in the air for a good photo doesn't make it any the less interesting.
If someone posts something you don't like, shut up with the derogatory remarks because someone, somewhere will respect and appreciate it for what it is.

Thanks for letting me vent...
