Good afternoon fellow explorers, its been a long time since I have been exploring, been unwell, and busy, but I am right as ninepence now.
Hearing on the grapevine that one of my favorite sites was due for demolition, I hot footed it across to Barlby in the explorer wagon, with trusty Dobbo in tow who needed some well earned exploring too.
I have done the history on this place before, however the thing that is pushing for demolition is a proposal for a new development called Olympia Park, there is some propaganda on this here:
http://www.olympiapark.co.uk/
Basicly lots more houses and fast food outlets in an area prone to flooding, so thats great then
Although this place is right royally trashed it really would make a splendid victorian working museum, it would be nice to think that some of it could be incorporated, but we know the answer to that one!
Here are my photos of probably my last visit:
Belt and braces:
But not for much longer:
On the boil:
Light up the stairs:
Fly the fly wheel:
Spring is on its way:
Gauge porn:
Basil the:
Cathedral:
Get there while you can, when its gone, its gone
cheers
