I think this place used to be called Salmon & Gibbs. I've lived near Brackley for nearly twenty years, but I remember very little of this place, and there doesn't seem to be much about it online. It closed back in 2007, and since then has lain disused.
I believe that the land has got planning permission for 130 houses, but I believe that there is a dispute with local landowners (over a ridiculously small overlapping patch of land, by all accounts). It also looks from planning documents as though the Brackley bat community have a thing or two to say, although there is the potential of them being mollified by the construction of a bat barn!
The planning document described the area thusly:
One pretty smashed looking house and one not so bad. Apparently these were built so that there could be a round the clock presence at the sawmill - can't think why that was needed personally.
Someone showed those lavs!
Tanalised timber - a product that has been pressure treated with Tanalith E. It was hard to tell whether these cameras were on or not, but I was quite wary of them all the same.
This building looked like a loading bay, but its contents were quite mystifying. It was full of Orange brochures like the ones seen above - all aimed at Synergy in the workplace, workplace culture bla bla bla. It was too dark to sit down and have a good read unfortunately.
Lots more to be explored but darkness drew in too quickly. Anyway, thanks for looking!

Sounds like nothing needs changing to me! Anyway, the pictures:The Sawmills site has been in industrial use for many years and has a functional character which includes large areas of hard-standing and large buildings. The site vegetation is sparse and confined largely to the boundaries of the site by necessity, to allow the site to operate efficiently. In both visual and character terms, the Sawmills site does not relate well to the surrounding area. The site is industrial in character, in contrast with the surrounding areas to the north and east. The proposals to change the character of the site from industrial development to residential would have a beneficial effect upon both the character of the site and the surrounding area, particularly given the high standard of design which would be implemented at this new gateway to Brackley.
