sunday turned out to be an interesting day...the new mrs y was otherwise engaged and junior had to be home early which left me at a loose end and with most of the afternoon to myself... so i grabbed urban jess and bundled her into the car for a recce with one place in mind......

urban jess note deployment harness which whilst not only aiding entry into awkward and tricky places, also aids extrication and exit from tight situations (really!! i'm not joking!!)

my ultimate goal was what i believe to be part of the old british steel works, and as far as i know the only remaining part of it, the canal loading dock and overhead crane which i remember reading about in a waterways magazine and if memory serves me correct has some kind of preservation order/ listings status on it so hence still standing...

before leaving for the second time with camera to document it, i checked the battery, down to one bar enough for around 50 pics i think to myself, that'll do....

but alas not!!! it appears that the last bar on battery meter on cam equates to around 10 pics, so note any new eos 400 owners....

...gotta go back again tomorrow.....but thats no real drag cos found some other places of interest on the way there too...... pint of springfields anyone????

the 1st 3 signs were on the gate to s/s 1070, this was on the side of the towpath next to it.....they really, really don't want u to go in here!!

but still, nice view of the side of the crane and associated buildings...

seeing as how the substation sat next to the (very) live (and huge) BOC site i took this as a no smoking sign....especially as there is a (very) loud hissing noise as you walk past along the towpath..
