Crikey Lithium. How have we missed that while visiting the dale? It just goes to show that we have only touched the surface in relation to seeing everything there is to see!!

The flourospar plant is massive. It looks similar to other mineral processing plants I have seen on tv. I could be wrong but the high up drum thingy could be a ball mill. They have heavy steel balls (remember the ones embedded in cement at Cambokeels?) which give the ore grief as it turns and crumbles the ore to a powder inside.
I think the big blue winder is from Cambokeels too - at the end of the incline where the big round room made of concrete was. It looks to be about the right size for inside there. I distinctly remember the anchor bolt holes in the floor to hold it down.
My fave out of the pics has to be the loco. There is something about those things that does it for me. The unusual windscreen is fab too. I remember as a kid walking past colliery yards full of underground machinery like this. All painted white and and unusual to look at as they were all low and flat to work underground.
Thanks for posting this up. Wish I could have made it. :(

Wow this place looks great! Dr. Black, Oddity and myself (aka 'The Bearded Soup Fanatics') went down to Groverake yesterday (pics to be posted shortly), if only we had known there was ths place just along the road!! Lovely industrial site, well documented and some good images!

To be honest, there is a lot of stuff in the vicinity, but you need to do research and find it as most of it is hidden away. Look forward to seeing your Grove Rake photos, its a wonderful site. I hope you climbed the headgear!

Thanks for the nice comments fellow soup-expert:)

Oh yes, we cllimbed. Did you get attacked by the giant spider monster on the way up too?

Giant spider monster?? When Lithium and myself did the headgear climb at Grove Rake the only challenge we had was sideways sleet as it was blowing a hooligan!

As Sausage said, we only had a force 10 wind and horizontal sleet. Hanging onto the rails whilst taking ophotos which did not turn out because of camera shake caused by wind and sleet on the lens.

What spider? Spiders are fun and cute, you can play yo-yo with them as Sausage knows well:p

This spider would have had your arm off.
It was as big as the face of Jeff Capes. Fortunatley OSPA wasn't taking any **** from no arachnid......

Cool pics by the way, fascinating to see the machinery that worked underground, we found a load of old manuals at Groverake for underground train things, was wondering where they went when the mines closed.

Spiders are big softys. Use them as yo-yo's over Lithiums head - that's when the fun starts.
