After last weeks mammoth effort I was going to give myself some time to chill but as I only have this and one more weekend before jetting off to the other side of the Atlantic for a while I thought to hell with it, I'll have a look at a couple of local sites I had placed on the back burner for ages. It's always the case that you sleep on local stuff and head out to far flung locations instead, at least in my case anyway as there is never a lot around Oxford to explore any more.
The first site I checked was crawling with workers as it would appear demolition is about to begin (drat, slept on it too long), so it was on to my backup plan. Oxford Brookes University has three campuses in the city, the main one in Headington plus two more on the outskirts at Harcourt Hill and Wheatley. The Wheatley campus has been in a state of going to close/not closing any more for a few years and now appears to be staying open however there are a pair of former dwellings on the edge of the site which have been empty many years. The smaller of the two was comprehensively sealed however the larger of the two was accessible, and so whilst the site staff were preoccupied with the new student admissions/introduction day I neglected to realise was on I hopped inside and had a nose.
I knew it wasn't going to be epic by any means however in my quest to knock off all the local sites however small, it's another one ticked and I doubt it's been documented before.
Thanks for looking
