Evil Jim and me.
Without doubt, two of the best known landmarks in the Brymbo area are the Brymbo Bottle Chimney and the nearby Top Brymbo Pool.
The chimney, dating back to John Wilkinson’s era, was built around 1792 / 94. It is recognised as being one of his earliest industrial undertakings in the area and formed part of his nearby Lead Smelting Plant.
The chimney once stood over 100 feet high (more than 32 metres) before being partially demolished by the army on the 25th November 1962 as a training exercise, to leave only a stub of 25 ft (around eight metres).
