Candlestone Castle is actually a fortified manor house, built in the 14th century.

It was originally owned by the Cantilupe family and abandoned inl the 19th cenury.

There is a quite interesting story about the village that adjoined the house....

Who can help but fall in love with the ruins of ancient castles and grand old houses? They evoke the misconception that life was wonderful in those distant days of yore,I figure it probably wasn't all that different from today,if anything its probably better now!:)
Thanks for the shots.

Looks a great place, must have a look at it next time I get up to Wales.

Thanks for posting.
