Visited Cavers in September 2008.
I couldn't find much info on Cavers other than that it was stripped and partially demolished in the 1950's (about half of it was knocked down) so decided to take a look. It is surrounded by pine forestry with trees planted right up against the remaining walls which made it pretty hard to locate but I found it in the end.
It's a great place, not very much of the house left but still worth a visit. Its location in a small clearing is quite magical, it seems to have been totally forgotten. It struck me as quite a forlorn place, i doubt it will ever be saved so I'm just glad to have had the chance to see it for myself.
On this trip I also went in search of Minto House and Liddel Bank. I knew Minto had been partially demolished but it turns out its all gone with a new house being built in its place On the other hand Liddel Bank has been restored and is being lived in. Hope this info is useful to anyone interested in these houses.
