Okay so here I am. sitting on a bus, doing a journey that I only do a few times a year on a bus rather than a train...when I decide to take the senic route....and it got me thinking....

I've passed through greenwich...charlton and woolwich....

And soo much changes over just a few months, and you slowly see buildings get ruined or empty and just destroyed that were fine not so long ago!!
So I'm just wondering how many of you guys have seen childhood places, that were lovely just go to pot...

Like pubs that have been there for years and large buildings and banks....

Okay so to my point....is there anywhere close to you that you have seen destroyed...like towns or buildings?
That you've grown up with?

Chelsea :D

Sorry i found that funny :lol: and need to explain why Most of my childhood places have always been to pot  and once i tell you them you will Know why if not just google the names and that will explain.

Govan......Castlemilk...............Easterhouse which was between Borstal visits. My parents got me out of there in the Nick of time before i went completely of the rails

On the serious side yes there have been buildings i have seen sadly pass away with very little to no protest from the public in general who fail to realise what they have lost. Over the years i have stopped of at these places where i grew and was shaped by them to a certain degree Just to see what has taken place, sometimes it can be quite depressing

Yes, everyone can tell you a tale of this. People of a certain part of Swansea would tell you about Killay House, the NCH.

Over the course of 20 years -

Ynys-Y-plant, another childrens home in Mumbles mirrored the above. Story ends.

The first building I which was derelict that I can remember was a house a school friend lived in. His parents moved away and some one moved in . They left and the house was left. As teenagers we played round the grounds and in the orchard. The house was left open and quite often we would wander around. After a few years the council took it on and made it into flats for homeless or a halfway house it was even extended. The orchard was built on and the house became run down and looked an eyesore like a lot of that type of place does. A couple of weeks ago it was flattened to build four social houses, another link to the past has gone.
The hospital my parent s worked at is now being concerted into flats and houses built in the old grounds but at least I have been have been recording that. :(

My old secondary school, Woodberry Down Comprehensive, absolute state of the art (possibly first comprehensive?) when it was built in the mid 1950's, had absolutely the best of everything., labs, gyms, and workshops. Immortalised by that most famous 'old boy' Buster Bloodvessel http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/artists/ac3dfc7a-c9cb-45ff-8fb6-86b2e7553896. Closed in 1981 and since ripped down. Very sad as the facilities I had access to there, in the 1960's, are probably still not available to a lot of kids in schools today. :0(

Hahaha, okay okay I got my wording wrong :D.
I hate it when you see lovely buildings completley defaced and built into modern housing...:(
They could atleast keep the old frame/design,even if the buildings not listed....

I was helping a friend rip out her reptile shop today, wich is another memory that's dissapearing, because only we would put up with it...it will probably be added to a list of abandoned buildings as years of crap work has got hold of the old building..bad roofing...and flooding fish tanks....bodged electrics....its falling apart from the inside out with us in there!!!...I very much doubt anyone will want it because there's too much work to be done in there, and too much to transform back to a normal shop....we will go back there and see how bad it is when she's left....it will probably become a nature reserve for all the escapee animals...but we are going to keep track of what happens :D and its majorly haunted!!! Never go there in the dark lmfao!! X
