Clarence street is one of only a couple traditional maltings in Burton, It was origionally owned by Peter Walker, laterly becoming part of Everards when they purchased the premises and built the tiger brewery. Eventually when everards sold the site it became the heritage brewery, which was a visitor centre and attraction. this closed in the early ninties and in recent years it has been used as a base for a grain haulier. Now the complete sight is being re-developed, the Tiger brewery has been transformed into flats and the surounding land as houses, the maltings is soon to go the same way.
