Another explore from earlier this year.

This was a really big site and as far as industrial places for urbex this and pyestock have allways been up on my list, allthough pyestock for me was just a tiny bit harder to get into.

Here is a bit of history i "borrowed" from someone elses report

The Cwm Colliery and Coking Works are situated in the upper reaches of the Nant Myddlyn
catchment near the town of Beddau. The colliery opened in 1909 and during the 1970’s employed
over 1500 people. The coke works were opened in 1958 to centralize and maintain production of
South Wales foundry coke. Cwm coal was well suited to the process as it had a low sulphur
content but the colliery and coke works closed in November 1986 and June 2002, respectively.

And on with the pictures.

Blinder. I went there last year, snuck in, took 5 paces and came face to face with a mental case wearing dungarees & wellies. Oh and the biggest alsatian I've ever seen which didn't have a lead, it was on about 5m of fencing wire !!

Great to see that there's still such a lot left there. Fab photos Cub, and an excellent tour. :) Love the book reading through the portholes pic; it's totally bizarre!
