Coal Office and Spring cottage Laboratory - Overseal, Swadliincote
Sorry for the fact I havent been around for a while or answered any of your messages! I've had so much on! Ive still been Urbexing but I havent been online because of having my computer moved into my studio and a number of other things. I have a day off so I thought I should post a few of my better explores up today that Ive been meaning to do.
I Went on a brief afternoon explore with Kaputnik to a place that I saw whilst driving home from work. The building sat across from a small row of houses that is tucked away in the country side of Overseal. The building looks out over scenic hills and what looks to be an old bit of pit land that is disused.
I'm not entirely sure in what way the two buildings are linked but I'm sure on a revisit we would be able to find that out through looking at the paperwork in the lab and seeing what they were analyzing exactly there. The place is divided into two separate buildings as you can see from the photo, We checked out the laboratory first; which is the smaller of the two from the photo, the lab is very badly pikey/chav damaged and one of the larger rooms is fire damaged. The windows are completely boarded in both buildings so inside is pitch black, neither of us took torches to this explore so a revisit is necessary. There wasnt much to look at inside of the Lab. The darkness from lack of a torch and the weird sound of dripping water in a otherwise silent place got the better of me and I scooted out rather quickly to check out the other building.
A couple of shots from the Lab
The laboratory from an upstairs window of the Coal office
The old and weathered "Spring Cottage Laboratory's" sign
The trashed and fire damaged Lab. This room was completely exposed to the elements.
One of the analysis rooms.
After our brief look at the laboratory we wandered over to the main office building which was much more interesting in my own opinion. Pleanty of paperwork and artifacts to photograph, although there werent many photos taken due to lack of torch light.
Shots from the main Office building.
"Area Office" The trees claim the sign.
An office room with the entirety of the contents still in there.
A sexy couch in one of the board rooms.
Found this a little creepy, opened one of the doors upstairs and came across this.
Externally the building looks tiny, but its a bit like Mary Poppins handbag inside. Plenty to look at and lots of rooms! I really liked this explore and I'm glad I went back after spotting it on the way home from work.
