This site's been explored before (see Coalbed Methane/Craigend Brickworks, Scotland Feb 08).

The sign outside refers to Coalbed Methane Ltd., a compamy which took over the site in 1994 after the brickworks closed, intending to extract methane from a coal bed beneath the brickworks. Coalbed Methane Ltd. went out of business before any extraction was carried out, so what we have here is really just a brickworks. There's some more information, and photos of the brickworks while in operation, on the blog of friendship.

I really like the look of this site. Nice pics.

I found the following on this website: Falkirk Council, Records of Businesses, Brickmaking, Fireclay & Clay Mines

Craigend Refractories
Craigend Brickworks Ltd was established in 1938 on the site of the drift mine at Craigend,
Falkirk, leased to the company by Carron Co . Works closed in 1943 due to lack of demand
for bricks, but re-opened after the war. Name changed to Craigend Refractories Ltd in
February 1972 and company sold to Amalgamated Anthracite Holdings Ltd. In 1983 the
Carbrook Mine and Craigend Works were closed and the remaining assets and trade names
sold to the Burn Fireclay Co of Morpeth

Looks like a real interesting place. Always sad to see a building so unmaintained it's as overgrown as you can get, makes for a good explore though ;)
