Crookham Court Mansion is being demolished

Quite some time ago I believe I was the first to post about this now very popular site Crookham Court Near Newbury, Berkshire:

My sister who lives down the road has just messaged me to let me know they have just began pulling it down.

For many many years there were plans to convert the house into apartments. For some reason it never happened and I guess now it beyond repair.

I have asked her to get me a picture

It's a wonder it wasn't burnt down before they started pulling it down.

Gutted. But the place had become so bad it probably wasn't worth trying to save. Sad end to a great building.

I hope they recycle all that stone rather than it going for landfill

I hope they kept the Bannister.

Bannisters were smashed out ages ago I think, saw pics of that whole section just open, no woodwork at all.

so sad that was my first explore
