I don't think I need to repeat the history of this place as it's been done many times before.

Anyway, yesterday I found myself in the vicinity of the former Crookham Court School and thought I'd go along to see how the renovations are going. Really there's not much of the old gal left, but at least the main bit will be saved. I didn't have a look inside, but maybe another time.

What's left (view from the front):

The tennis court is now being used for storage of stones from the House:

That's nicely photographed and sharp images. They will have to keep the original bricks as the building is grade listed so the builders will probably, reshape the bricks and replace ones that are broken or missing. It's good that it is getting a new lease of life as housing. Here's a link to the builders website showing how it will look when finished.

Visited here twice.first time a few years ago.the rot was setting in a little bit.the second time was last summer.and the change was horrific.every single bit smashed up.this is a lovely post and nice to see the progress.I still think it should have been bulldozed.listed or not.

I agree with you but I'm for preserving history. Mind you, who is going to buy such a property after what has happened here in the past and that it is (possibly) haunted. After all, prospective buyers need to know the history of any building.

Oh I agree with you.I hate seeing buildings demolished.just think this one is certainly an exception to the rule.the history is horrendous as I think everyone knows.and I think out of respect it should have gone.but like you say who would buy a place here.I certainly would not.

The last time I went inside, which was August 2015, the place had no atmosphere at all - it felt dead as a Dodo.

When I saw it on Monday, it looked at peace, if that makes sense. Yes, it has a bad history, but that's not the building's fault and I believe it deserves to be saved and become a happy place again. I'd happily live there: it's going to look great when it's done up. :)

This is a fantastic update, thanks very much. I didn't even know this was going on tbh. Nice set of photos there :)

Fair Play to the developers, they seem to be trying preserve and save what they can, if a lovely old building such as this can be saved then good luck to em, It's good to see a positive outcomes do happen, Nicely Done, Thanks
