Right last report from my "family holiday" to sunny Cyprus, so the last day of having a hire car I wanted to see something different.
This time it`s the abandoned village of Vrecha in the Paphos region of Cyprus.
This needs a bit of background history, so there was everybody living in peace and harmony you know ebony and ivory everybody on Cyprus sitting around there collective pianos, then in 1974 the Turkish army invades the north east of the island, Most Greek Cypriots, and thus the majority of the population of Cyprus, are members of the Autocephalous Greek Orthodox Church of Cyprus (Church of Cyprus), whereas most Turkish Cypriots are officially Sunni Muslim - Oh this could get a bit messy.
So lots of villages in the south that were made up of Muslim Turkish Cypriots thought bugger this for a game of soldiers and moved north east and in to the Turkish controlled zone.
Bad for them - Good for us
now this place is in the middle of nowhere, but has a "road" and it`s on the Satnav oh and a cafe that you need to call the owner to come and open up.
Picture time...
This is the old mosque
Next up is the school house, which still has the black board on the wall.
This building is thought to be the local village coffee shop, well it was open for trade but nobody seemed to be in (could of done with a brew)
If you walk back in to the main part of the village you get to this very impressive building, it looks important might of been the village mayor (but only a guess)
There are more small side streets leading off this way and that each with houses or what left this was number 29 what ever street.
I could go on and on, but well done for getting this far down.
Thanks for looking all comments are most welcome, if you want more derp goodness and who wouldnt pop over to my FlickR page at
