Day Trip To Bangour, April 2009

This was intended to be another crack at Broomhill with Urban Shadow but that wasn't to be so we decided to have a look at Bangour. We only went into one building, Villa 28. We met an old man who would have liked to tell us more about his adventures in the nurses' quarters but his wife, daughter and granddaughter were with him. He clearly had fond memories of the place though.

Never seen one of those before. It's similar to an 8-Track.

I think I've been in that villa before, is there a room with bibles in?
Bangour is a bit of a challenge, I think you'd have to spend all year staking it out to gain access to all the villas.

Yeah defo Lost, It's like Alton Towers, except for explorers lol There are so many buildings there I'd love to get into, I'd never been in Villa 28 and I am pretty happy I managed to get inside. According to a local this is where the severe cases of mental illness were housed, allegedly for folk who were not deemed volatile enough to be put in Carstairs. There was certainly a lot of bibles kicking about. They were all put in a box in the upper level. There was an odd book, shown in the report, don't even know what it was about. Richard also came across an interesting object laying outside, does anyone know what it is? Richard fire a picture up to see if anyone knows what it is.

I think "interesting" might be overstating it a bit. There were loads of them lying around outside, and I saw a dog leaving with one in its mouth. It's about the size on one and a half D cells. I still think it's a rubber bullet.

quite surprised the door was open to be honest Mate especially during the day but i would expect its been secured again this is one of the villa with stuff in it did you have a tinckle on the ivorys up stairs and the books where the still in a a cardboard box in the upper hall way. It would take a year to see it all believe me

Had a wee shot on the piano, played the jaws theme , security is always on the ball here, this was a lucky chance we took basically, the door wasn't open but access was tricky, and not visible to the trained eye. I'd imagine its been spotted by security now and sealed. Hit and miss at Bangour really.
