Location
North Berkshire.
It's been a while since I posted anything worth looking at but I hope you enjoy this.
I Passed this place last year and while out for a drive with my wife we stopped across the road for a picnic. After I went for a walk with one of the dogs to look round the place.

Nice one Night Crawler love seeing your posts as the pictures always look great.
Was this a vertical shaft mine or are these the process building?

Cheers Newage

That's the word I was looking for I'm sure they were process buildings and I think it was an old Lead Mine

That's Cwmystwyth mine. A fascinating place and really interesting underground. The first time I went there (1960s) the mill buildings were still standing but were falling apart.

That road up the valley passes by Dylife which is a former mining village - great pub also.

I wondered if there was an underground part but I doubt my wife would have been keen on me looking there

The last time I went underground there was probably in the late 1980s but there was some massive timbering in one section and a lot of generally good stuff to see. The entrance was low and wet but then it opened up a lot.

Just google Cwmystwyth for lots of pics including underground and the derelict mill building as I remember it.
