This I am told by a member of the church nearby was the house where the local Dr lived. I did not get a date when it was vacated.

Apparently over the years various thieves have stolen bricks from here hence its poor state of repair.

Here are a selection of the pictures I took:

hi - I don't recognise this place I used to live just up the road in Merrions close. Is it near the golf club or church or what was St Margarets hospital. There used to be a vicarage in Chapel lane and we used to go a a small club house called the 22 club. memories of a past approx 30 years ago.....:)

if you are looking at the church whilst standing on chapel lane, it would be over the other side of the church into the thick trees and bushes.

Its on the St. Margarets Hospital site right near the church end away from the other buidings as it was built as an isolation hospital/TB sanatorium. I don't think it was a doctors house but i believe it became more of a halfway house for patients preparing for discharge into the community.

Hello Pete

True enough it does not look very "housey" but I was going by what the long term gardener mentioned to me when I was looking at it some time prior. He seemed certain that a Dr used to live in it and had been working at the church for 17 or 27 years (i think :)).

cheers

hi Stavros and thanks for the info Just shows you can live in an area and not really know it. I used to drive through the grounds of st margs hospital to avoid a police speed camera!!! and never noticed this place.
thanks again :)
