Whats that giant green machine? looks like something to do with metal machining but i dont have a clue what, it looks really funky though with all those handles ooooooo. See an explore can never really be boring because you never know what your going to find :). Nice shots, i like the one of the roofing beems from above.

Worked in a timber yard in Pembroke on a YTS (remember them ) waaaaaaay back!!

The place was full of these fella's and even bigger buggers too. I used to cut 'raw' logs into 4x2 etc lengths before they were thru the PAR (planed all round) machine and then sent off to the builders merchants.

Those were the days- 16 years old, £23 a week, using BIG power tools :goofy:

......And I still have most of my limbs :biglaugh:

Health and Safety in 1986?

Nahhh!!!! :nah:

I am working in a sawmill just now that has literally no care for health and safety - basically just use your common sense or you get your limbs chopped off. It's great!

I have a mate who lost most of his fingers on one hand due to kick back. The saw kicked the wood back and trapped his fingers against a wall. Ouch.

Funny thing is he now works as a signalman on the railways.....visions of him being unable to pull a lever due to lack of fingers = traincrash.

I lost part of my finger a few weeks ago in a DIY saw accident :(

Oh dear. Hope you get well soon.

I play (work) with chainsaws a lot and as yet - touch wood - have not hurt myself. Mind you hedgecutters are another story! I've cut my knee open, my tummy....
