After a great morning in Selly Oak, we hit up a couple more sites in Brum, while it was quiet. After bumming out on 2 near where I live(manned and being demo'd:mad:) we had a look at this little stunner in a not-to-good area of the city. The history is as follows.....

G.S. Smart was founded in 1897 as a manufacturer of ornamental metalware in Birmingham. They use traditional metalworking skills in conjunction with modern techniques to design and develop a range of quality artistic metalware.

In 1984, the company was acquired by Metalrax Group PLC, a respected Birmingham based engineering group of over 20 operating companies. Since then, G.S.Smart has expanded into selling through home shopping outlets and has seen growth in the supply to retail stores.

They manufacture traditional and modern wrought iron furniture for the home, including tables, chairs, bedroom furniture, headboards and bedsteads and fittings.

There was a load of Argos boxes in this place, so how they went out of buisness I'll never know!!! There is STACKS of furniture still packed and waiting to go to Argos!

The factory part was quite large, and on 3 floors, with a cool conveyor system in the middle of one part. We saw all there was to see, and headed to what we thought would be the offices. After walking into what looked like a newly decorated office section(looked like an old hospital with staircases and long corridors) we heard a few loud beeps. ALARM!!! ****, we legged it back into the old factory and it all went quiet but for one continual pip. I ventured back in after a couple of minutes, and the bloody thing started to pip again like a motion detector.
We'd run out of light, diluted had fallen through floor boards and I'd alomst knocked myself out on a huge pole hanging from the roof, so decided against running into security or cops if the alarm was linked to something!!! Good day in all though I think!:)

Cheers guys! That chair was one of many in there, and quite freakishly sized. Like a childs chair, but only really build to be ornamental!
