Paid a visit to this ROC post. Easy access which probably explains why it's been set fire to and has the hatch smashed off. Real shame that some idiots find amusement in such moronic behaviour. Burnt out but still some original features:

Sorry guys but forgive my ignorance but what is a ROC and what is/was it for? :shame:

Rather - Who were the Royal Observer Corps? A body of men, who in WW2 observed the skies and reported incoming Raids. Come the Nuclear Age they were stationed in deep bunkers (such as pictured here), equipped with fall out detectors and would had detected nuclear fall out and its wind blown direction of travel. Looking at the overall installations now, they were obviously there to give the 'Powers That Be' enough warning to scuttle to their blast proof hide holes, leaving the natives to their own devices.
