During the past couple of weeks there has been some activity at the Ark.
About three Fridays ago I came home to see flames coming up from the annex building being dark and the angle of view I have from my house I couldn't quite make out if this was actually the building itself or from the area in front anyway I called the fire brigade and they put it out quite quickly. Once they arrived and shone some more light on the matter it appears that the fire was in front of the annex.
Around one week ago I noted that red boards had been placed against the main central windows at the rear on the inside. The other windows at the rear and in the rear side "turret" rooms hard board can be seen against the inside of the windows.
Late Monday afternoon a truck was observed delivering materials and yesterday there was the sound of sawing and drilling which went off until after dark.
The most of the windows in the annex building have now been been boarded and it looks as though the remainder will be finished soon as the wood is there but worked stopped as it went dark last night.
It was exactly a year ago, just before Christmas that the lower windows of the main building were secured by metal sheets.
Recent local press reports suggest that the council is going to bid for money to restore the synagogue and other prominent decaying buildings in the city.
