Hartwood asylum, 07/08

after tramping around the woods in the rain, we came across the assylum building, and after the promise of a MINT assylum with 2 towers and loads of stuff to see, what we actually found was a COMPLETELY burnt out wreck of a shell

to say we were a little pissed off is an understatement, hence the lack of pics.

I can see why you'd be disappointed, there's barely anything left these days. Remaining tower is OK though. Far from mint - need to have a word with whoever told you that!

but the problem was, that there was no way up to the towers due to the bunt out state everthing!!!!

Er, it hasn't changed since mr. bones and myself visited and you can get up the other tower quite easily.

Who promised you a 'mint' asylum? It hasn't been mint in a long time.

I must admit I like it like that. With the crenellations on the towers it looks like a castle and has quite an atmospheric feel about it.

you can get up the right hand tower in the picture to what is left othe claock faces and then onto the top only one tower is burned out but some crazy people think that is not beyond beign doen and Its is possible if you knwo how ! not something i will speak about here or any forum. To be honest i think you missed a lot off this place to be honest perhaps like out trip you where cold and tired at the time ?

Aye I think you have missed the boat somewhat, Hartwood was one of the best hospitals I have ever explored, and most of it was demod and burnt even then,

Bloody glad I got to see it whan I did!

yes thet are still intact and nothing has really changed on the site.

I'm gonna start by saying I really miss this place!
( the me part of projectmayhem is Scottish )
And I'm now in west Yorkshire
i was in this place when i was 8! on Lanarkshire television if anyone remembers it? LOL
I remember most of it being shut off even when they were using it for tv it was **** scary with people buzzing around, This place actually really terrified me then, God knows what its like empty. We're planning a trip back up soonish!!


Also does anyone know what happened to the newer hartwood? is it still standing ? x
