Although I had visited Hellingly recently, it's almost classed as my 'local' asylum and with Klempner and Drypulse after a guide I was more than happy to oblige.

We all met down the road from the hospital mid morning, along with a couple of my friends. The weather was great, bitterly cold but really bright.

As we made our way in, one of the first parts we came to was the hall. From there (past the hairdressers), i chose a slightly odd route around the hospital which found us darting from one end to the other, then back round again!

After going through the kitchen, out towards the burnt remains of stores and my first ever clear view of it, we headed towards the tower

Klempner then exclaimed that he had a spare 10-20mm lens in his bag, and offered to loan it to me :) :)

From here we headed upstairs and followed some of the wards round, before heading downstairs, towards the laundry and finally hitting engineering.

We headed out of the main building, and down towards the old isolation hospital where the others made an incredible discovery and called me over - in a previously sealed side room was a gaping hole that led down a long way - i shone my torch in and to my surprise saw a set of coal fired boilers - rusting away underground. The drop was a bit too far to climb safely, so one for another day

And finally, we saw the remains of the padded cell before heading out.

All in all, a great day - good to meet some new faces and some nice new finds among the desolation and decay.

Great shots Son, loving a bit 'o wide angle action ;) Like the colours in that second one.
Tis always nice discovering new bits to somewhere you've been so many times before!

I can't even dream of it at the moment but i did like it!!

Excellant report

You got some great shots in there..dont know how i missed the stacked chairs...and that shot in the padded cell came out great too...on my pics taken looking down into the boilers,in front of boiler 3,there appears to be a trumpet!Glad you took some new stuff with the wide angle too.I really enjoyed this explore,it was so quiet and peaceful .Thanx very much for the tour once again.
regards from Stu

Quality shots mate, gutted I missed the padded cell when I went but nice to see it in your collection all the same.

Cheers all,

Unfortunately Stu, i didn't get a picture of the 3rd boiler so i wouldn't mind seeing your picture and the mystery trumpet!

Silverstealth - the padded cell is tucked away in the upstairs of the isolation hospital. We had to search around for quite a while to find it! Graffiti says 'New room 1936' and underneath says 'closed in 1986 by know nothing w*****s'

Good to see you back on here LB ;)

Noted, nice one mate.

Trumpet

See if you can spot the trumpet

My favourite shot from the trip.

These chairs just look so sad, like they are cuddling each other....
