High Marnham Power Station opened in 1959 and closed in 2003 after nearly 45 years in operation.
The stations chimneys were demolished in 2004
( i was lucky enough to tag along to work with my dad and watch !)
Sadly its 150ft high boiler house followed in 2006 leaving only the Water Pumping house, the pipeline bridge and the 5 cooling towers standing today.
Been meaning to do this for ages having walked past many times with unwilling parties and had to be literally dragged away whilst clawing at the fence...
Unfortunately this meant it had to be a solo trip..
From the river..
Disused viaduct running alongside
Water Pumping Station and some sort of boat access.
Hazzar... at last.
Cooling towers
Access door on the side, nice oval shape to it.
Inside one of the towers, and a teeny tiny me for size comparison..
