A local explore in my home town of Bournemouth, and what a gem this place is!

There isn't anything that I can find on the internet about people being on this site, and I cant see why. This site is so impressive. It boasts 3 blocks which are up to 13 storeys high. Details of the build are:

"The landmark scheme designed by Cube in association with White Ink Architects, consists of a 13-storey 172-bedroom 4-star full brand Hilton Hotel with 14 exclusive residential apartments above, in addition to an 8-storey 120-bedroom Hampton by Hilton and 45 apartments with a 224-space, 3-storey deep, underground car park and associated landscaping. Work is scheduled to complete in Summer 2015.

Block A 172 bedroom 4 star Hilton with 14 residential flats above
Block B 120 bedroom Hampton by Hilton
Block C 45 penthouse apartments with 224 space underground car park and landscaping"

This information has been taken directly from the contractors website. (http://www.mcaleer-rushe.co.uk/project/terrace-mount-bournemouth/)

Anyway, onto the photos...

Here we are from inside the site, looking at block 3 and the crane:

If you looked right you could also see over the pier and the seaside. If you looked left you could just catch a glimpse of Poole. For me, this has to be the best view in our town, looking over the gardens, Lansdowne and Richmond Hill.

Also, I'm an A level photography student so any constructive feedback on the images would be much appreciated. Cheers :jiggy:

Must be pretty special to get a view like that of your home town, nice to see.

Very nice set of images. Your exposures are spot on. It is very easy to get 'washed out' highlights in night shots of townscapes - your images are full of detail across the whole lighting spectrum. Look forward to seeing ore of your work.

Nice report. Love the location, would hate it if there were more hi rise developments in my town but if there was i'd have to climb them.

On the photography front great stuff but needs "foreground interest" and more work on the level horizons.

Cheers everyone!

Stu, there isn't much stuff that's too high unless you're in the town centre but this place could be an eyesore after a while of it being finished. Thanks for the feedback too, haven't been in the photography game for too long!

A bit of constructive feedback from me... presumably you've learnt about the rule of thirds? It's just a thing that works to the eye. So where a lot of your photos have the horizon splitting the photo in half, you would do better with 2/3 foreground (more interest), and 1/3 sky.

The same goes if the shot has some kind of main focal point, it works better if the main focal point is 1/3 up and 1/3 in than it being smack in the centre.

Also like stu8fush says you could do with more foreground interest in some of them, second photo from the bottom would have been even better if you'd have lit yourself and some of the foreground metalwork up a little.

They're still great photos though, just a few pointers that may help you with your a-level as you asked for that's all. :)

Cheers for the advice Krela, some of the photos I took had more foreground interest but I didn't feel they were quite so strong. I know about the rule of thirds (it's the first thing they teach you). I think the adrenaline pumping through me may have affected how much I was focusing on the actual photos. I'm still learning so pointers are always handy haha!
