The Holbeck Viaduct was built during 1869, by London North Western Railway (LNWR) and is 1500 yards long.
There are 7 steel over bridges, 2 arch over bridges and 1 subway
the remaining structure consists of 85 arches.
The viaduct links Leeds station at its north end and an embankment to Farnley Junction at its south end, and closed during 1988.
This was once a spur from Leeds station to Farnley Junction,
the track remains in situ on the left side of the viaduct.

Nice one, good inclusion of that grim subway. There are another two forgotten subways under the embankment section you'll have walked over, you wouldn't know they were there (unless you knew they were there if that makes sense) :)

Did you walk the full length of the viaduct?

battery died on camera so didnt get 2 subways and Gelderd road skew bridge,
I went along the viaduct to the railway bridge by sweet street.

Thanks for that,,,,,it reminded me of my 50's childhood in Cardiff. There were quite a few raised railways with garage infested arches and steam trains chuffing across bridges and canals all getting tangled together in the docks,,,,,,,,,,,,, ahh,,I can smell the pollution now

I've come over all,,,,,nostalgic

IIRC as part of regeneration plans for the area, the Holbeck viaduct would become part of a walkway linking the area with Leeds city centre.
