This was an interesting visit, and somewhere that had been on my list for a while now!

Its a bit of an odd story behind it which we won't go into too much detail as its actually quite disturbing to be fair and then it comes of no surprise as to why it was left to rot and so on and so on...

Basically according to most locals the house was abandoned in the early 90's, I however think it was abandoned quite some time before, I could be wrong but it is just my opinion!

After the previous occupants that lived there, one member dismissed a mental patient from the psychiatric unit at the Doncaster royal infirmary who then went onto commit a serious crime in the frenchgate shopping centre sparking a public outrage and the occupants moving out leaving behind a wealth of possessions including classic cars.

I do wish people would be less sensationalist with the 'mental health' aspect of this place. The victim, the patient and the Doctor were all let down by the system and rules there in - the situation has re-occurred with varying outcomes at other locations in the UK (including Doncaster) since the original Doncaster incident. So for those of us that were working and living in Doncaster at the time of this unfortunate act and knew the victim's family, you wonder what it will take to really make a difference. There are many aspects leading to the abandonment of this place, not least 'the mob mentality' of some at that time. If these comments are construed as being 'negative', then all I will say is 'I was there'.

As I said I haven't gone into a lot of detail with regards either party. . . I just feel it is quite necessary to post photos with some kind of report, a little write up of the history on what we know. . .
I also fail to see any negative comment I may have made here? That's simply not why I use this site. . .
The last point I'd like to make to you is I certainly don't need you to state that any system which may have let them down! Thank you! It's a posting on a derelict places forum not an archaeological journal.
