Killearn Hospital was one of five commisioned in 1938 in preparation for the war. Building started in 1939 and also complete in 1941 in time for the air raids on Clydebank and other Clydeside towns, which could be seen and heard in Killearn.

Looks more interesting than I expected it to be from some people's mocking comments about it ;) Good photos.

Some good pics of a **** hole, you're making me want to finally get round to exploring this place. Any brushes with the farmer or the guard sheep, and is the asbestos there as bad as I've heard?

Most of the place seems to be getting used by farmer as livestock sheds. the place is pretty fcked but then again it has a part of Scotlands Hospital history as much as any of the others and should be documented as such. Anyway it was a cold crisp clear morning and the scenery was cool.

I think the asbestos comment applies to all the WW2 emergency hospitals (like Law and "Struan Hospital" aka iron lung hospital), as some of the wall and ceiling panels are asbestos-based (presumably something like Marinite?) Provided they're intact, they're safe enough.

Good photos BTW, the mountain backdrop works well against the huts.
