An exhausting 2 mile hike uphill to reach this shell of a lookout tower that dominates the skyline as you drive along the backroads of the Newtyle area. The views are amazing, but ultimately, not a lot to see of the tower itself. Still, we've been meaning to do this for years and that's another one of the list.

It's a lovely spot with a great view over Strathmore, and IIRC it was built by George Kinloch as an observatory – he was one of the promoters of the Dundee-Newtyle Railway. There's some history in one of Colin Gibson's wee local history books…
