We were in the area and popped by this recycling centre. Thanks to HughieD for letting me know where it was. It's a bit trashed now and people have been stealing bits of it. But it was still quite nice, and I liked the vivid blue colour of it. We took a bit of an arse about face way to it. And when we had finished a massive thunder storm came on and to say we got wet was an understatement. The recycling machine reminded me off a coulourful aggregate sorter you see in quarries. The plant cost 1.5 million to build and opened in 2009. Reading HughieD's report and few newspaper reports it seems there was some dodgy going ons with the owner and he was convicted in a court in Sheffield for breaching envioremental permits. These breaches were related to waste issues like illegal storage. He was sentenced to 21 months in prison and the company went into receivership and it seems no one want to buy the machinery and land.
Away from the quarry and near the steel works is some old dumped bits of machinery.
Seems a strange thing putting a diesel generator in a porta cabin.
