i know it was done a few days ago by mr mookster but i was inspired and i know someone who lives close-ish

so we went this morning as the snow was falling had a great explore and took lots of nice pics with my new (to me) old skool Optomax 35mm 2.8 lens.
if anyone knows when these lenses were made id like to know as i dont have alot of info about it at all

pics -

a bold filing strategy.. i hope it paid off for them -

there are industrial shots a-plenty to be had at the site -

funny little room full of loads of tubs. i dont know what they contained though.
i always think these things sat there happily for god knows how many years so ill leave them as they are -

we all like a bit of b+w -

i do like buttons and switches!

industrialness-

the key is in the control room... now you know

i did get up on top of the hopper thing on the left. a bit sketchy in the snow but hey-ho...

and there we have it...

i did take the train from redhill to vauxhall to have a mooch around battersea but the only way in i could see involved climbing and i would struggle with that kind of fence at the min.
but at least i got to walk around for getting on for 2 hours in the driving snow and cold... awesome!

Good stuff, I was actually planning on heading down again today but the area has had so much snow now that the line past Reigate is closed!

Some great shots there Mr LARKIN :)
Its only a matter of time at this rate till you & mook`s bump into eachother.
This snows make things a bit harder to get about for sure.
Ive got the rest of the week off & want to get about a bit,
anyone know of any Derelict tanning sallons

Nah, thought not.

SK :)

I think the jars had earth samples in them, shamefully we did open one, but it wasnt one that was sat on the shelf.

There is some slow moving plans in the works to do something new together...soon;)

the slow moving is down to me being a lazy cripple. my mates got the day off work friday, picking me up for soem kfc. ill get him to drive past and then let you know if it's doable

you could always come over and we'll check it out but it could end up being a waste of train fare =/

I looked at the lids of some strewn around and they turned out to be burners of some sort, though why there were that many I don't know!

Army surplus! The tins were originally solid fuel burners, but they'd been repurposed to hold soil samples!

Lots more graff in the packing shed out the back from when I visited in 2009.

As an educated guess Biffa do, as they turned La Porte's quarry into a landfill site and, I imagine had to take hold of the Factory as well.

Interesting info about the tins as well I did wonder why they'd need that many burners in a laboratory!

All things considered I like this little site - i must take the 5x4 down there...

Like the exterior shot in the snow. Was up here just before New Years' - the mist meant my pics came out a bit crap but have done it many times before as it's just down the road. Always like visiting this place though and right at the top the view is pretty impressive on a clear day!
