New to the site as you can see but I have been to most of the places covered here around Edinburgh, and probably Dundee as well, though I haven't checked that yet. Haven't got any photos of them really as I just went for the fun. Got a new camera recently though so have been taking quite a lot of photos.

So here's some from a disused freight yard. It's not particularly interesting to be honest as it's fairly limited.

I thought the industrial forum would be the best place as I didn't notice anything rail related. [edit - having said that maybe the misc section would have been better. Oh well.]

Hopefully I'll have some good shots of some better locations for youse soon.

Thats just exactly what we love to see. Brilliant photos of the Freight Yard, keep em coming and welcome to D.P:)

Cheers all.

No idea whether it still belongs to railtrack or the deal with the couple of things still there. My guess would be that it does though, as it's just a little siding really. EWS still operate to some building a little further on.

Nice pics :) there's nothing like having a wander around a rail yard

Some cool bits of rolling stock there...really like the car transporter.
Love the giant cotten reels!
Nice pics and interesting site. Cheers, Leland. :)

that place has never changed since i was last there in 2001:mrgreen:
there looks to be some skelital stock missing tho there was another 18-20 cars further up just at the EWS
switch  great photos been ages since i was down sali street ;) and they class that site as part of port of leith im sure:p

Red Wagons

Hi All
Just to give a little info on what is there, looking at the pictures.

Picture 1,3,6 & 7 show what are called "spine wagons" they were build so you could load a lorry trailer
on to them, the tailer wheels would of gone on the small flat platforms (pic 7)
EWS did run a few trains toi test the idea but in the end dropped it, the wagons were stored at West Drayton
for ages.

Picture 8 is a car loading ramp, car wagons have 2 decks and need extra ramps to reach the top deck.

Hope that sheds a little light.

Cheers Newage
