It was decided during the week a last ditch attempt was to be made, as its semi local and only a train journey away so off i went to see the remains...Contractors were on site and there were a few close moments but the asbestos guys have gone, i imagine the demo crew are going to start ripping into the rest of the hospital apart pretty quick! :(

" The Hospital was opened in a leased house in St Swithin’s parish in November 1769. In 1774 a site was purchased near Drury Lane for a purpose-built Hospital, which was used from 1777, and subsequently expanded. The first part of the present Hospital site was purchased in 1875, and the new Hospital on Sewell Road was opened in 1878.
A site on Sewell road was selected and purchased in 1875 and work began soon after. Alexander Graham designed the hospital in a three story pavilion style with a chapel and it was finished by 1878 to open soon after. A fever block was added in 1885 and an outpatients department in 1891. Alterations and a new Nurse's block were designed by William Watkins in 1914.The Hospital was transferred to the NHS in 1948 and has continued to expand along Greetwell Road.
I struggled to find exact details of when it closed info from other posts suggest that wards were closed through out the 90's

Thanks For Looking

I can see why you put 'pic heavy' in the title, It would be hard to whittle down those photos mate.

Superb :)

I know Nelly, i could of posted less but i thought its going to be gone soon then there will be none...

Thanks for the comments, its a great explore even if getting in was a bit tense

Top notch place. Just think it's been a long time since the care in the community act came in. Soon there wont be any of these places left. It's lucky people are photographing them. It also amazes me that stuff gets left behind in these places before they shut.

Probably the best friend to have in this game is someone who works for for demo company or removes asbestos!

I work in the NHS and it still amazes me on the amount of waste. If a place closes it often works out cheaper to buy new stuff than pay to transport it to a new location. Now where's the logic in that

It's a shame that no one has thought to rescue those memorials, especially as Lincoln County hosp wouldn't be there if it wasn't for those generous individuals of pre NHS days

Is this place gone now? I remember seeing the new hospital when we did a part of the hospital back in December

as far as i know the entire west wing has now been demolished and they have begun works on other areas, but i dont live anywhere nearby so im not sure how much is still there
