These two Signal Boxes closed due to the 2010 resignalling between Sunderland south tunnel and Greatham, transfering control to Ryhope Grange and Greatham Signal boxes.
Norton east 1870-present
This signal box was put out of use and transfered to Norton west signal box due to a decline in traffic, this spur is used once in a while for diversions and charters/excursions from/to the Stillington branch.
