Hey all,

This is a little cottage hidden in the depths of the forest of dean along a little from the farm covered by William H..
I shall organise another couple of reports for the 2 other places in due course..
We have visited this site a few times and its a real nightmare to get to if you hate walking, as I do! on this occasion we went on bicycles..
It was very overgrown and nature is certainly taking it back, the owner apparently has no interest in these properties according to local talk.

Wow! Amazing find!!
Such a little gem in the wonderful forest!

Jealous........ :)

Really stoked you chaps like them. I forgot to mention, there was loads of jam jars and bottles all round the back of the building. We will have another visit soon and try to take some more pics...

lovely!! cheers for sharing.........these hidden houses in forests are just amazing - makes you wonder how many are out there just waiting to be doscovered...................

I'd love to know a bit about the people that lived there, the strange pic doesn't seem to fit in, it's to modern.

Thanks for sharing. The bowl shaped object in picture no.4 was commonly known as a "copper" which was used to boil up and wash your clothes in. Sometimes they were cleaned out and used for brewing beer! I'm just about old enough to remember.

If this is where I think it is, then it is a typical Keeper's cottage. Records of local shoots and forested lands tend to indicated that prior to WW1 these 'keepers' were mostly married men, but as the 20th C progressed the work was carried out by younger single men.

I cannot tell what the picture actually is - genuine autographed photographic print, page from magazine or a photographic copy of a magazine image. However the pose and or image is a well known 'Swinging 60's' creation - so if the keeper was a young man in the 60's, this picture could fit perfectly with the period this cottage was still weatherproof and used for its original purpose.

The dereliction exhibited here does not take that long to set in and one might find that the property was still habitable in the early 80's.
