1. The History
Abandoned, then subject to a serious fire, Millway was in the throes of being demolished. It’s in a bit of a sorry state. The Millway Foods Dairy was built relatively recently in 1987, close to the Grantham Canal, in the Leicestershire village of Harby, where they produced Stilton. Dairy Crest then acquired Millway Foods in March 1999 and Millway Dairy Crest Ltd was formed. However, Dairy Crest moved all production from Harby to the Hartington Creamery in the Peak District in 2002 and the dairy closed. At the time of closure Dairy Crest took out an injunction forbidding any other company using the site for cheese production and the site remained empty since. A large fire was discovered during the early hours of Saturday May 5th in 2012 and the site has since been partially demolished with the remainder awaiting demolition since.

Third time I’ve been here. Not been done on here for a while so thought I'd still post a report by way of an up-date of this place. It’s very easy access and worth half an hour of your time if you are in the vicinity. Very little has changed since I came here a couple of years ago. Was surprised that it hasn’t been cleared already to be honest. The only thing that had changed was the weather!
