The town of Henson is/was a company town, meaning that the mine owned the settlement, and the miners often had a pretty rough time. This particular settlement was the scene of an armed strike at the turn of the last century. The strike eventually ended without a shot being fired. The Ute Ulay mine has been worked on and off until very recently, and parts seem to be live still.
Access is easy by 4x4, but wheres the fun it that? Its much more fun on two wheels!
