Is there any way to prevent new users with 0 posts to their name using pm's? I'm getting quite a few "how do I/where is/I want..." messages from total noobs.

Maybe I should just jog on but there ya go.

Alex and I have recently become the European Tourist Board, it is rather tiring. I'm all out of polite refusals and now just ignore em.

Yes there is a way and yes it used to be the case that people with no posts couldn't PM, it was changed for a reason though.

I'll have a think about it.

I don't see the problem with newbies sending PM's! I used the function early on (to PM Krela though).

If you don't want to give the info, just don't reply or reply saying you don't want to give the info :)

Ticking this option in messaging & notifications does the job for me. :)

'You may limit the receipt of private messages to just moderators and your contacts. Other members who attempt to send messages to you will be told that you have disabled private messaging.'

'Receive Private Messages only from Contacts and Moderators'

If a request is well worded, includes a bit of background about the person asking etc then I'm more inclined to respond if they have no posts - It's so much easier getting asked stuff on Flickr as I can immediately see what people's area is....
