Though I've done plenty of explores over the years, the majority have been above ground. I have done the old tunnel and mine, but nothing too 'hardcore'.
Well my other half is really interested in checking out some drains, etc, he's also a newbie to such stuff, so I was wondering if anyone could offer any tips/advice for a good first explore? Mainly looking for something around Yorkshire or the midlands, but have car, can travel! Thanks in advance ;)

 well, more what are easier places to do if you've never done draining before! I've had a look on that part of the forums, but I'm clueless as to the 'do's and dont's of it all! I don't personally really know anyone who is that into draining either.

Okay how's about, tips publicly on this post and and good location ideas via pm?
Ideally we'd love to tag along with someone who knows there stuff and doesn't mind showing the ropes to newbies ;)

Here's a few tips
1, get some waders
2, decent torches are a must and lots of them
3, if you start to feel dizzy and faint get out or die
4, don't slip
5, search for Megatron

Ta, I'll have a good read through everything before diving in (though diving in doesn't sound a good idea in a drain anyways!)

I forgot to mention to try and not die ;)

Draining is possibly the most dangerous "Urbex" activity with serious risks, keep in mind that you will encounter explosive and lethal gasses, very slippy surfaces where if you slip you won't get phone signal and any extraction will be difficult, raw sewage, sharps and sharp rusted metals

I don't want to put anyone off but you need to be aware of the risks, drains are amazing and you'll have a great time just be aware of the risks and if in doubt GTFO

and you'll hear time and time again if it rains don't do drains!

My tip was going to be "Speak to Paulpowers"
Just use common sense, and always consider your return routes I.e. Have a plan B.
