This is the North Carr Lighthouse boat situated at the Discovery Quay dock in Dundee. It was involved in a fatal sea disaster in 1958 when it got in to trouble in the North Sea and the only available/nearest lifeboat was The Mona at Broughty Ferry. At 0318 hrs, Dec 8th it went to assist the lighthouse boat but capzised in galeforce winds and all 8 crew died.

Those Lightships are really good. We have about 3 in Yarmouth Harbour at the moment as there is a large Trinity House Berth here. They as you know are responsible for Upkeep of Lighthouses ships e.t.c.

Yeah it's well maintained by a bunch of enthusiasts and is a kind of touristy/Heritage thing. The Frigate unicorn sits nearby which is the main point of interest at these docks but I find this boat a lot more 'intimate'.

Ah, I remember this poking about this as a youngster when it was at Anstruther :)

Talking of May. The North Carr Lightship replaced this lighthouse from my very first report on DP. :)
