After seeing and passing this site a few times but not paying much attention to it, I found out what it was and took more interest in it. Sadly, the Magistrate's Court has been boarded up so we couldn't go there.

I visited with KingofDerby and Thomski.

Inside what probably was where they fixed their cars and vans and whatever other transport they had.

The random things you can find in derelict/abandoned buildings...this was near the area where they fixed cars etc!

I got quite a lot more photo's but thought I should stop posting them! I couldn't decide which ones to include.

Ohh!!! That's an amazing find. If I'm not mistaken, isn't that the WB1400, the unit for contacting local ROC posts? That's really an amazing bit of history. I hope that gets saved.

It was actually Thompski who spotted it, but it was an amazing thing to find. I'm not too sure of the details of it, I'm afraind. I also hope it gets saved!

Looks interesting, especially the equipment carrier WB1400!! Imagine that wont stay there for much longer!!

I'm not holding out much hope for it personally, I wonder how many of these exist these days?

It's been left since me and the usual suspects visited a year ago.;) guess most people think it's just a useless old phone.

An explanation of how it works; which I stole from somewhere to add to one of my photos.

In the event of a Soviet nuclear attack RAF strike command would communicate the attack to a control point (a Police station). The War Officer at the Police station would then lift one of the "X" and "Y" path handsets, (either one would do), to receive a spoken attack warning. The system had no facility to talk back to RAF Strike Command.

The War Officer upon receiving the message from RAF Strike Command would operate one of three switches on the unit "Warning" "Speak" and "Call." Warning and Call sent a series of pulsed tones to the warning points to alert the warning officers. The Speak key allowed the spoken warning to be re broadcast to the now alerted Warning Officers. Warning Officers would then pass on the respective warnings using hand sirens and sometimes even whistles and rattles to the general public.

It's been disconnected; the thought of Urbexers setting off a nuclear attack warning would be funny

Did you find the statements from a murder as a result of someone screwing someone over in a drug deal?

Can I steal that ^ to add to the same photo of it I put on facebook?

I wasn't paying much attention internally - I just wanted to get on the roof  Needless to say I wasn't disappointed, though hopefully other rooftop leads in Derby will bear fruit soon ;)

Its nice to see a different angle on this old place and some interesting old stuff. Its about time they did something constructive with it now though:exclaim:

Especially like your rooftop shots Thompski,Very good ones of the new bridge and the Jurys Inn hotel:)

Aye it would be interesting to see how Derby has changed in the last year since its previous visitors :)

I was quite fond of the interior of the Police Station, particularly the reception area, despite being the newer and less impressive of the two buildings.

Good to see some pics from here again, shame that Jury's Inn totally ruins the skyline in that bit of derby, i was sat on the cathedral green watching the peregrines the other night, and that horrible building just looks very out of place near such structures as the silk mill museum, and the cathedral.

old nuke warning gadget

Cool find it would have been Top Secret in its time but now its just old technology ,Good to see the Chavs hav'nt smashed it up, Urb ex at its finest .

Give it 20 years of St Alkmund's Way finest pollution and typical British rainy weather and it'll fit in just fine

It will be derelict, rusty and abandoned in a lesser timescale than that judging by the "quality"materials I have seen going into it.Maybe one to put on your urbex list for around year 2020:lol:
