Hey guys. My first actual report of a visit. It's been long overdue. Anyways me and Sgt Pepper headed around today to a few places (other reports up soon) anyways our first visit was to Pallion Engineering. We spent a good few hours around here unexpectedly.

It was also my first venture out with a good camera. Although i'm still not an expert, I hope these pictures are satisfactory

Often called 'doxford pallion', all that remains of the mighty William Doxford and Son's empire stands, rotting away in what was once the industrial heartland of Sunderland.

Very, very nice mate, really like the macro shots.

The IBM one is especially good, it must be good not having to faff about with a tripod like I do lol.

I'll get my report up sometime tomorrow, can't upload on this internet.

Really wanna see your other ones, but bear in mind cause I'm usin phone internet it reduces the photo quality, so I won't get the best outta your pics till tomorrow when I'm at uni.

Was a really sketchy day from start to finish really :(.

Good explores tho!

Haha thanks dude. Yeah sometime's it benefits having a tripod, sometimes not. Some of the other photo's i took in this place could have done with a tripod.

The photos are very good Vintage.

It breaks my heart to see documents rotting away like that. Some lovely atmospheric rooms too.

What camera were these taken with Vintage?

Thanks Sausage  I went and bought myself a Fuji Finepix S9600 off Ebay

i bloody wish that place was still there to see. The big warehouses are used for other things now mate. Its just a small couple of buildings left derelict.

Well there's three buildings left. But we couldn't get into one of them. But they are still well-worth the explore. Me and Pepper were pleasantly surprised at how much there was left. One buildings fairly intact with little decay. But it was recently used for a seasonal factory. Well more recently that the other building, which hadn't been used since it first shut.

Coal Cutter I have those images bookmarked somewhere here on my PC. Couldn't find the link though.....
Although several of the images are obviously set up for the camera it still gives us a unique insight into how "stuff was".
When I worked at Ashington Colliery it was very much like those old images. I never had a camera then though. :(

Vintage that camera is a goodun. It is a favourite for many on explores. Speaking of which - you have no excuse now. We want to see what else is out there. ;)

Yeah i also would love to have an insight such as pictures into what went on in the colliery's. My grandad done some big job throughout all the north east colliery's. and my dad worked in Ellington. Needless to say i would have no doubt went into that industry should they not have closed.

Yeah the camera's decent. Just trying to learn all the manual buttons etc i can use haha. I will put up my other two reports when i get time

Excellent work man. Fascinating place. Have you seen this:

Some wonderful archive shots. Never seen crankshafts so big in my life! I assume this is the same place, correct me if I am wrong :)

The bearing casings in the link you posted are the same type that Rolls Royce/Mitchell Bearings are still making today. I deliver there every Thursday and cannot get enough of the machinery in the factory (I also deliver to BAE - the old Vickers factory)

We had a little 'problem' (unrelated to st marys or UE) which meant we didn't get a chance to go.

I'll get my reports up from here, Durham Baths and Ushaw College either tonight or tomorrow
