Just a FYI for photobucket users as all hell is breaking out over at 28DL about this.

Photobucket have taken upon themselves to break all the embedded photo links until you upgrade your account at the cost of $399. Lots of reports are gonna have broken links and will need manually re-hosting.

The only choice is to cough up the dosh or re-upload all your stuff to another host like Flickr or Imgur.

Total WTF decision by Photobucket. I'm guessing they are financially ruined and this is the last ditch effort to save themselves.

Photobucket Breaks Image Links Across the Internet - Web.com Web Hosting

I noticed this a few hours ago. I was going to post something about it tomorrow.

This is the second time they've done this in their history. $40/month is an unfeasible large sum, so they must be desperate.

Flickr is the only reliable option imo.

Just noticed this … all the image links have been broken … I'll be deleting all my Photobucket albums and heading elsewhere I think.

I heard about this from a photographer I know, who is totally livid. Understandably so! Nice way to ruin your business guys!

Thanks Grom, All my and Muppets explores are hosted by photonuclear and I wouldn't object to paying a few quid, thankfully they are all backed up on my portable harddrive. K

The desperate death rattle of Photobucket, so glad I chose to host on Flickr instead, free unless you choose to upgrade to Pro.

... and if you don't want your urbex photos to be mixed in with ones that identify you, open a new Flickr account just for those.

I just had the notification from PB today; checked my photos on here and the links are all broken. I could reload them here from my website but they're old reports which are locked now. Any chance of getting at them, Krela?
I tell you, I've had a helluva few months with stuff like this happening...one blinking rescue job after another, lol. Fortunately they're all on my pc and all 35mm photos so I've got all the negs and prints. It must be really horrible for those who've lost all their stuff, mind. :grumpy:

mine are still there.dereading them going though.i will transfer to Flickr then.wished I had used them at the start but did not know much about it then.and pb was recommended to me.

You must have thousands Mikey, just checked mine are still there and they are all backed up on hard drive, so I'll get me Grandson to teach me how to use Flickr and switch.

I am on my sixteenth page of reports.with twenty five per page.they won't get deleted of pb just links broken on here.its going to be a nightmare for sure

No-one has lost anything, everyone still has access to their account and all their photos for free. What they cannot do is link to them from other websites. I would highly suggest people download anything they want from their accounts before PB goes under entirely though. It's possible another company might buy them out and reinstate third party linking, who knows.

There's no easy way for me to mass unlock threads no.

On investigation you don't need to PM me a list of threads, just PM me asking me to unlock your reports and I'll do so.

I'm not going to unlock every thread on the site because this will create knock on problems.

On further investigation I have just found a way to let you open and close your own threads, so if you go to a locked report of yours and look for the "administrative" menu above the first post, you should see an unclose thread option. You can lock your threads in the same way. Please use this function *only* to edit already locked threads, thanks.
